Potting soil will be available and visitors can bring an orchid for hands-on help in re-potting. This is being presented by Fred Keefer, owner of Orchids by Del-Rei, who has 20 years of experience in raising orchids. A member of the St. Augustine Orchid Society, Ft. Lauderdale Orchid Society, Gainesville Orchid Society, and The American Orchid Society, Mr. Keefer does orchid displays and sales throughout the state of Florida.
Several new products are now at the Market. Dips2Go has added a new line of dry rubs to their line of dips. The rubs include lemon/ginger poultry rub, cocoa pork rub, a Carolina rub, a Mexican rub, and a Jamaican jerk rub. Dips2Go is also adding a low country seafood boil as well. These gourmet rubs are great for home as well as being beautifully packaged for gifts. Proper Pie has introduced a new Healthy Option Vegetarian menu - each week, new pies will be added which may include Trio of Wild Mushrooms with a white wine herb sauce, Root Vegetable Pie, Baby Spinach Pie with ricotta cheese, creamed potatoes and green onion, and a Triple Cheese, Potato and Onion Pie with parmesan crust. Shoppers can also now ask for the low salt and fat free shepherd's pie. Dips2Go and Proper Pie are at the Market every Saturday along with our other regular vendors. On August 7, the Market's Booth With A Cause program will host Project Chance. Project Chance, founded by professional dog trainer BJ Szwedzenski three years ago, is a Fernandina Beach not-for-profit organization that provides golden retriever service dogs for children with autism in northeast Florida. To date, eight dogs have been successfully placed or will soon be placed with a family with an autistic child. The parents have reported amazing results with their child’s development and quality of life after receiving one of the beautiful dogs as a companion and family member. Visitors are invited to stop by the Project Chance booth for an opportunity to meet Apple and Parker along with BJ and some the volunteers who are dedicated to their training and success as a service dog.
